Played six games of doubles pickleball, back to back. Oak Manor courts. I know that all sounds ridiculous because it’s pickleball, but here’s something even more ridiculous-sounding: It was INTENSE. I lost (or we lost) all six games. Never had that happen before. At one point I decided to dive for the ball but realized I was about to skin my hands pretty badly, so I tucked into a roll and skinned my knee instead. Saved the hands, bled on my shorts.
Jim gave my roll an 8 out of 10 and said he thought it was well-executed. Har har har, Jim.
Mike made some comment about an extremely nice recovery but had a huge smile on his face because his team won that rally.
Mike went on to say many other things that made me laugh, though. And he can slice a shot between two players in a way that is just impossible to intercept.
William was mostly, I think, frustrated that we were about to lose. We had the wind at our backs and wiffle balls love to add about 2-5 feet to every volley in that situation. “Out.” “Out again.” William does not seem like the type of guy who would waste his time playing pickleball. But he’s there and you really feel his serious presence on the court. During a game, he always knows what just happened, what’s currently happening, and what’s about to happen at any given moment.
I rated this a 5 out of 5 because it was remarkable, fun, and a great learning experience.
